ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Beyond the reported interest from Luis De La Fuente's camp, there is another Spanish manager vying for the USMNT head coach position.
According to CBS Sports Golazo contributor Guillem Balague, ex-Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez, who most recently managed Celta Vigo, is said to have interest in the job. He has reportedly even gone as far to speak with U.S. international Luca De La Torre, whom he managed at Celta Vigo.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Benitez only lasted 28 games in charge at the La Liga side with De La Torre, but the duo seem to have created a bit of a relationship as a result of their stint together. Balague reports that Benitez has asked the midfielder about the role, and that his interest is genuine. Some have speculated that De La Fuente's supposed interest may just be a leverage play for better pay with La Roja.

DID YOU KNOW?
Candidates mentioned for the role included fellow ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp – who has reportedly declined interest – Strasbourg's Patrick Vieira and LAFC's Steve Cherundolo, among others.
